Save Me From Myself?

Do you ever wish that you could un-send that email that you emotionally dispatched last night?  Been out and about, got home and with a passion, you composed an email to “your boss”, “The Ex” or other personal offenders?

There’s a cure for the irrational sending of emails that have been composed in the throws of emotional fervor, it’s the wait until the morning review.  Now that sounds good if you have a constitution of steel and can do that for yourself, but when you are slightly less inhibited, the passion can win out.

Google’s Gmail has an option that will test your rational self and suggest that you “Have a drink of water, go to bed and review this email message in the morning”.  Google calls it Mail Googles; it’s an option that can be turned on in your Gmail Settings.

If you are using Gmail, the Mail Googles can be found by clicking on the settings, labs and scroll down until you find the Mail Googles application.  All you have to do from there is check the enable to activate it and it will show up on your main settings page.  Mail Googles allows you to set up a testing time for email sent from Gmail.  The default testing times are Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM.  You can also pre-determine the difficulty of the “math test”.  The default is 1 and gets harder the higher the number.  An example of the type of question that you will be asked is the sum of 4 + 5.  Not to hard huh?

If you fail the “test”, the email will be put into the drafts folder and a suggestion that you go to bed is printed to the screen.  \I sure could have taken advantage of this option in my younger years.  It would have saved me from myself.

To read more about Mail Googles, search the internet and there are already at least 114 thousand articles.
